FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers)

Where is Tilleda, Wisconsin?

Tilleda is approximately 20 minutes West of Shawano off Highway 29. The campground is located on County D at mile marker 209 on HWY 29.

How many camping units and people can I have at a site?

Rates for individual and group camping are based on a total of one camping unit, 5 people (2 adults and 3 children), 1 pet, and one vehicle per site. Parking is limited, so please let us know if you have additional needs such as a boat. Additional vehicles are $10 per day, and all visitors must register at the store.

Per Wisconsin Legislature ATCP 79.11(5)a “Each campsite is limited to 6 campers or an individual family.”

Do you allow tent camping?

No, we do not allow tent camping at our campground. Due to the historic nature of our property, many of our underground utilities are located close to the surface, making it unsafe to accommodate tent stakes. In addition, current state lodging requirements mandate that campsites without bathroom facilities must be located within 400 feet of a restroom, which significantly limits where tents could be placed.

Because of these factors, we are unable to offer tent camping. However, we do have affordable sleeping cabins available that provide a simple and comfortable alternative.

Where is the nearest grocery store?

Check out our camp store as we do carry a small supply of items but if we do not have what you need, there are stores in both Shawano and Wittenberg.

Do you allow boats on the pond?

Per DNR rules, you can use an electric trolling motor on the north side of the bridge. You can use smaller boats (i.e. canoes, kayaks, paddleboats) on the south side of the bridge which is the same side the campground is located.

Does Tilleda Falls Campground have a laundromat?

No, we do not.  The closest laundromat is in Wittenberg which is approximately 15-minutes west of the campground.

If I do not want to cook where can we get food?

Check out the camp store as we serve locally made pizza, chicken wings, chicken strips, cheese curds, onion rings, french fries, breakfast sandwiches and of course we have 8 flavors of hand scooped ICE CREAM!

Do you sell wood?

Yes! Visit the camp store for all your campfire needs. We sell bundles, wheelbarrows, fire starters and even S’more supplies!

Can I let my dog in the pond?

Dogs are not allowed on or near the beach area. If you are on a waterfront site your dog can enjoy the water from your site (on a leash).

Do you sell bait?

Yes! We sell Canadian Crawlers and Red Trout Worms.  We also have many other fishing supplies available in the camp store.

Where do we go when severe weather hits?

Guest safety is very important to us. However, due to the historic nature of our buildings, we do not have a designated storm shelter or structure that can be considered a safe house during severe weather events.

In the event of severe weather, we recommend that guests monitor local weather alerts and plan accordingly. If conditions warrant seeking shelter, guests should use their best judgment and consider relocating to a nearby public facility or designated storm shelter in the surrounding area.

Do you have WIFI available?

WIFI is very limited and is only accessible (at times) in the camp store. Due to our location and our internet provider, the service is very poor with only have a certain amount of bandwidth.

Do you have showers?

Yes, we have hot coin-op showers. The cost is .50 for 5 1/2 minutes. We charge the .50 to help pay for the propane that heats the showers. We also pay to have the holding tanks (located under the showers) emptied each week.

Do I have to pay the lock fee while reserving a site?

While we guarantee your chosen site type and amenities, our automated optimization system may change your site location. You can guarantee your chosen site location by paying the lock fee.

Do you have sewer hook-up sites?

No, we do not have any sewer hook-ups. We do have an on site dump station free to use for all those camping with us.

Do you allow more than 1 dog on each site?

Additional pets are welcome. A fee of $10 applies for each extra pet beyond the first, per stay. Max of 4 per site. This does not apply to our rental units as they have different guidelines.
